Anthropic has made its AI coding assistant Claude Code available via a browser interface on October 20, 2025 in the United States, enabling developers to build and manage autonomous coding agents from the web instead of a command line.
Previously accessible only through a terminal or command-line interface, Claude Code’s new web version allows users on Pro and Max subscription tiers to launch coding agents, review diffs, tweak prompts and manage multiple tasks simultaneously from within the browser or on mobile.
Anthropic says this shift makes the tool more approachable for developers who prefer web workflows and need flexibility across machines, locations or device types. The move also positions Claude Code to better compete with other web-forward AI coding tools from rivals such as GitHub Copilot and offerings by OpenAI and Google.
Key capabilities of the web version include sandboxed environments, integration with GitHub repositories for direct editing, and support for simultaneous agent workflows that let developers spin up multiple coding tasks in one session.
The pricing for Claude Code remains tied to subscription tiers: the Pro plan at around US$20 per month and the Max plans starting around US$100 to US$200 per month. Access to the “Code” tab in the web interface is included for eligible subscribers.
Analysts say that the browser-based release could expand access from hardcore engineers comfortable with terminals to a broader developer audience, including full-stack engineers, front-end teams and even design-tech hybrids. If adoption scales, it may reshape how teams collaborate across code, AI and operations.
