Canon today introduced the EOS R6 Mark III, a full-frame mirrorless camera designed for hybrid shooters seeking high resolution stills and advanced video in one system.

The new R6 Mark III builds on Canon’s R-series legacy by upgrading the sensor to 32.5 megapixels, a significant leap from the previous model’s 24 MP, allowing finer detail and more flexibility in cropping.

Video also sees a major boost: the camera supports up to 7K/60p RAW recording and 4K/120p, bringing cinema-style chops to this stills-centric body.

In terms of workflow the camera sports a dual-card slot configuration (CFexpress Type B + SD) to handle the higher data loads that come with high-res stills and hefty video files.

Autofocus and burst shooting remain at the forefront: Canon says improved subject detection and faster read-out support up to 40fps with the electronic shutter, making the R6 Mark III a strong option for sports, wildlife, and fast-moving scenarios.

For creators working across photo and video this model marks Canon’s clearer embrace of hybrid capabilities. Its position in the market pits it directly against rivals like the Sony A7 series and Nikon Z6 alignment by offering premium features at a more approachable level.

Pricing for the body-only version starts at US $2,799 and availability begins November 25, 2025. With this release Canon signals its intent to reclaim ground in the hybrid camera market, offering serious creators the kind of spec sheet once reserved for cinema-grade gear. The challenge now is how well it performs in real-world conditions — but on paper, the EOS R6 Mark III raises the bar.
