Nigeria is set to join the BRICS Pay System by 2026, aiming to de-dollarize cross-border transactions and align with other global South economies. According to Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the move is part of broader efforts to reduce reliance on Western financial infrastructures.
“We are already having conversations about joining the BRICS Pay platform. It’s a strategic alignment for Africa,” Edun said during the Pan-Africa Finance Dialogue on July 25.
