Surfshark Launches the World’s First 100 Gbps VPN Servers

Surfshark has launched what it claims are the world’s first 100 Gbps VPN servers in Amsterdam, aiming to deliver more stable, high-throughput performance as global internet demand grows.

The new servers increase capacity tenfold over the industry’s widely used 10 Gbps standard, helping reduce congestion during peak usage and support heavier loads from multiple users.

While this upgrade does not guarantee that any individual user’s connection will hit 100 Gbps (since final speed depends on ISP, device, and protocol), it means more breathing room across Surfshark’s network and fewer bottlenecks under stress.

Surfshark is rolling out the servers in a trial phase, starting in Amsterdam, with plans to expand the infrastructure globally based on performance metrics.

The move positions Surfshark as an infrastructure innovator in the VPN space and may pressure competitors to upgrade their own server backbones to stay competitive. Analysts say this kind of backend leap is key as streaming, gaming, virtual reality, and remote work demands continue to escalate.

Still, real user benefits will depend on many factors — including how the upgrade is managed globally, how ISPs respond, and how quickly other VPN providers follow suit.
