Zambia has reached a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a proposed new three-year financing programme worth about $1.5 billion. The agreement remains subject to approval by the IMF Executive Board, expected around December. If approved, the programme would disburse funds every six months over three years. The IMF has projected 5.6% economic growth for Zambia in 2026, supported by agriculture, mining and exports, while noting pressure on public finances from weaker revenue and higher-than-budgeted spending. The agreement is proposed, not yet approved.
